There is a reason so many survival skills are centered around fire starting, it‘s because fire is life. The ability to produce fire has been integral to the survival and continued existence of humanity since time immemorial.
Fire starting with the bow drill is an art that few posses, yet, with good materials and some practice on the technique it’s an incredibly rewarding skill to add to your toolkit.
Creating a fire with the simplest of tools and barest of resources can be challenging but I guarantee, the feeling you get when you blow that first ember into flame, is like no other and carrying that skill and knowledge with you through your life is a source of strength and security that nothing can take from you.
During this course we will:
-Learn the most choice materials to use in our bio-region
-Learn guidelines for determining the viability of unfamiliar species for use in friction fire
-Construct bow drill kits to fit our own body measurements, tailored for our anatomy
-Gain first hand experience producing embers with our kits
-Trouble shooting and unusual variations not often found in other sources
